What belongs in the load
Follow the rating's definition. For a frame rating that includes the desktop, add the top, displays, arms, computer, trays and other attached equipment. For a rating stated as equipment capacity after the supplied top, avoid counting that top twice.

The arithmetic and its limits
Spare capacity equals published capacity minus total lifted load. Percentage used equals load divided by capacity, multiplied by 100. The example inputs, 180 lb and 355 lb, leave 175 lb or 49.3%.
A positive result only compares two weights. It does not establish stability, approve an uneven load, or replace the frame's installation and operating instructions. If the total exceeds the rating, reduce the load before operating the desk.
